Volkswagen took a run at a category with a mostly failed track record - the crossover convertible - and the T-Roc Cabriolet is one of only a handful ever built, arriving after Range Rover's Evoque Convertible and Nissan's Murano CrossCabriolet both struggled to find buyers. The switch from hardtop to drop-top stops behind the front wheel arches, so the nose, and the headlight lens this kit is cut for, carries over unchanged from the standard T-Roc.

A Roof That Folds Itself Away in Nine Seconds

It's a fully electric roof, dropping in around nine seconds at the touch of a button and usable on the move at speeds up to 19mph, with extra bracing built into the windscreen frame and sills to keep the body rigid without a fixed roof overhead. None of that reaches the front end, though - the Cabriolet keeps the same headlight units as the hatchback it's based on.

Colour is already worked into this film before it reaches you, so there's no dye stage involved - it's cut, laid onto the lens and smoothed flat. Pick a tone anywhere between a faint wash of colour and something dark enough to look almost blacked out, and if it's ever removed, the lens goes back to clear without a mark left behind.

With the roof down more often than most cars see daylight, does the film cope with the extra sun exposure? Yes - it's built to resist fading and lifting from UV over time, so regular top-down driving through summer isn't a problem for it.
