Cut to the New Beetle's sloping headlight lens, a shape Volkswagen carried over from the original 1938 car's round lamps into the curved fenders of this generation. The 2006 update brought new lamp units, bumpers and badging alongside the 2.5-litre five-cylinder becoming the standard engine, but the outer lens shape stayed the same, so this kit still fits cars built either side of that change. The film is a precoloured overlay rather than a dye, cut to the lens shape and pressed on dry with no cure time, and it lifts away later without marking the lens if you'd rather go back to standard. Options run from red, blue, yellow, orange and green through to two black finishes, one lighter and one near-opaque.

The sloping, almond-shaped headlamps were one of the details Volkswagen borrowed straight from the original 1938 Beetle's round lights, reworked into the New Beetle's curved fenders rather than sitting flat in a conventional bumper line. This kit is cut to that lens shape for the full 2003-2010 run.

The 2006 Update Swapped the Lamps, Not the Shape

Volkswagen fitted revised lamp units alongside new bumpers and badging from the 2006 model year onward, and made the 2.5-litre five-cylinder the standard engine at the same time. Neither change altered the headlight's outer lens shape, so this kit still covers cars built either side of that update.

The film is a precoloured overlay rather than a dye, so it's cut to the lens shape, positioned and pressed on dry - no spraying, no cure time. Options run from a light tint through to a near-black finish, and it comes away again later without marking the lens if you'd rather return it to standard.

Does the 2006 engine change affect fitting at all? No - the powertrain sits well behind the headlight assembly, so this pattern fits cars with either engine the same way.
