The R-Class was Mercedes-Benz's take on a luxury MPV - low, long and estate-like rather than tall like a conventional people carrier, and officially sold through Mercedes-Benz UK dealers from March 2006, even though it always stayed a rare sight on UK roads. This pre-cut window tint kit is cut to the R-Class's own glass, so it presses into place rather than needing to be trimmed to fit.

Two different lengths under one name

Mercedes sold the R-Class in two wheelbases in the UK: the standard R300 CDI and R350 CDI, and the longer R350L CDI with the option of 4MATIC four-wheel drive, stretched by around 23cm for extra rear legroom. We haven't been able to confirm whether the rear door and window glass is identical between the two lengths, so if you're not sure which one you have, it's worth checking your door glass against this pattern - or sending us a photo - before you order.

Built for families who wanted something different

The R-Class was aimed at buyers who wanted seven-seat flexibility and a low driving position without the height and bulk of a conventional SUV - more estate car than minivan to drive. With that much glass area on a car this low, cabin heat and glare build up fast on a sunny motorway run, which is exactly what this kit is built to cut down on.

Every panel arrives individually laser pre-cut to the R-Class's own contours, so fitting is a case of positioning and squeegee work rather than cutting your own sheet. Pick your own depth for the front doors and rear window independently, from a light 70% through to a near-black 5%, whatever suits the rest of the car.

Does this kit fit both the earlier 2006 cars and the facelifted 2011-2012 models? Yes - the 2011 refresh changed the bumpers, grille and lights, not the glass, so the window shapes held steady across the whole 2006-2012 range covered here. The one thing worth double-checking is your wheelbase - standard or the longer L version - since we can't yet guarantee the two share identical rear glass.
