The third-generation Q5 was unveiled in September 2024, with the coupe-styled Q5 Sportback following that November, built on Volkswagen Group's new Premium Platform Combustion architecture and assembled at Audi's plant in San Jose Chiapa, Mexico. Audi builds the standard SUV and Sportback from the same front end back to the B-pillar, and the SQ5 shares the same lighting hardware as the regular Q5 - it's differentiated by trim details like the exhaust rather than a different headlight design.
